To set an AOL Mail in Mozilla Thunderbird
Select tools account settings from the menu of thunderbird.
press ALT key if you were not able to see the menu
click on account actions
Select add mail account from the menu which pops up
Type your name in the provided space given
Now type your AOL mail under the email address section.
Enter your AOL email password under the email you have provided

Give your account a descriptive name under your account name section which must be appearing on the screen
click continue
click done
highlight outgoing server in your account list
click add on the right hand side
type AOL email under description
enter SMTP.AOL.COM under the server name
Mention your AOL screen name under the user name section
click ok
highlight your Aol account in account list.
make sure you place a copy in, and make sure it is not selected while sending message
click ok
