Earlier we use to track impression, banners, and keywords to conversion and use to emphasize more on the keyword which is working or giving conversion or a set of activity which is increasing revenue. So the online marketing agency use to make it a rule if something is working use that repetitively and make a rule or set of rules to implement in their online campaign.
Now here is the new scenario: when ranking a keyword doesn’t matter at all and various according to user preference mainly Geo and previous browsing history. And day by day Google is improving their search results with social media updates, news and any other happening on World Wide Web.
Frequency is almost real-time and changes immediately based on the algorithm of Google or other search engine. In this web era where ads are becoming more personalized and targeted by user’s online behavior the rule based marketing is not going to work and if the advertisers are still demanding the keyword ranking to judge the effectiveness of their search engine optimization activity is just in vein though it’s good for agency to show the ranking and convince the client that he has done good a job.
Recent study shows that most of the user who buy’s online is logged into their social media account. And they love to share the news that they bought something online is common now a days and is considered as an opinion about that product and their connection’s are very much prone to buy the same product as a user of that product is vouching for that Advertisers and Google is shifting their strategy towards that to target customer across the device and time. Once more aspect which is impacting the ad’s placement and ROI is the across the platform targeting.
E.g. If I buy a pack of 60 diaper on my pc on first of July 3, 2013 then advertiser can show me the advertisement from 30 of July 2013 to 3rd of Aug 2013 about the diaper’s again across all my device which I use through the WiFi of my home e.g. Desktop, Laptop (which I carry to my office also) my Smart phone and even my smart TV which is using the same broadband connection. What I mean to say here is rule based marketing is expanding and it is not only restricted to keywords or banners it should be used in Social media channels and search engine’s as the line between SEO, PPC and SMM is becoming thin day by day.
Facebook introducing #Hash tag sometime ago made is very much clear that Social media is going to be playing an important part in search ranking and creating a central theme for a particular profile so that it would be easily targeted or I say that word by word capturing the user’s intention and then attack with advertisements.
In current scenario only the SEO and Google Ad-words Advertising is not gonna take you to the number one spot in your domain. You need to create a niche theme in your SEO Strategy , Google Ad-words PPC and a number of social media platforms and keep it updating on a daily basis and track it properly. Almost all the brands are now on social media pages but how many are tracking the effectiveness of the social media. The traffic which is generated through social media is driving any revenue or not?
So if we make a Rule and follow it accordingly then we can achieve our target and remember there is no shortcut to success and you need to invest time and resources in this activity and then you can get the desired results.
