Matthew Tercsak is the successful owner of Mystik Inc., a retail shop in Central Florida.

As the owner of Mystik Inc. specialty shop for the last twenty years, Matthew Tercsak has had a great deal of time to perfect his management skills and strategies. His success in a competitive industry is owed to his dedication, ability to take charge, and a steadfast commitment to his customers in Central Florida.

There are many things a manager can do to be more successful and have better profits in their business if they are willing to change their methods. Self-discipline is an area where many owners struggle, as they have no one higher up to report to each day. One of the ways that Mr. Tercsak remains disciplined and on task is to break cumbersome or overwhelming projects down into more manageable parts. He then chooses to complete the lengthier or difficult pieces first, leaving the easier sections for later in the day.

Another way that Matthew Tercsak keeps his productivity high and his schedule well-tended is to complete a set number of tasks or projects each day before his lunch time. By the time he sits down for a noon snack, he is feeling confident and prepared to handle the rest of the day's responsibilities. When he can, he handles like-projects or jobs at the same time, which is also a time and energy saver.

Mr. Tercsak has learned to always give more credence to value and not volume. He uses this philosophy in many ways at Mystik Inc. When there are a lot of things on his plate, he chooses to handle each in turn, instead of spreading himself too thin trying to get many things completed at once. The quality of his work has a higher value than the amount of things he can do haphazardly. The same value to volume principle applies to the inventory that he procures for his store.

Being a small business owner, especially one who is as successful as Matthew Tercsak, is no easy task. He finds that taking time out each week to reflect on the business events and happenings is the best way to keep everything in perspective.
