Marc Viechec Reflects On A Successful Career As A Stockbroker

Posted May 30, 2016 by marcviechec

Marc Viechec worked on Wall Street for almost 15 years before moving back to Pennsylvania to work as an independent stockbroker. He considers the many skills that he needed in order to be a successful investor.

From an early age, Marc Viechec recognized that he had a talent for mathematics and began exploring the ways that he could make use of this in his career. He studied Finance at Penn State with the aim of working on Wall Street as an investor and stockbroker, quickly establishing a reputation for professionalism, diligence and quick-thinking that helped his clients to make sounder investments. He now reflects on the many talents that he has needed to develop and maintain during his career.

He quickly learned about the importance of having an analytical mind, which allowed him to take the reams of data that he would be presented with when considering an investment and distill all of the facts and figures so that he could present his clients with the most pertinent information. He developed the ability to spot patterns in the markets, allowing him to choose investments that had the best chance of being successful.

Marc Viechec also found that interpersonal skills are an often-neglected aspect of working as a stockbroker. He quickly learned about the importance of building relationships with everybody that he encountered in a professional context, be it his peers or clients. By establishing common points of interest and showing genuine interest in what his connections had to say, he developed a reputation for working hard to understand others’ needs, which in turn allowed him to best serve those requirements as an investor.

He also learned that risk is part of the job and without a little courage, he would never be able to make investments that promised larger rewards. While he does everything that he can to mitigate the risk involved with the investments he makes, he also understands that it is important to take a chance every now and again. All of his decisions are backed up by extensive research, but he has not reached the point where he can work independently by playing it completely safe.

Today, Marc Viechec works as an independent stockbroker in Pennsylvania, providing services to a number of clients. He aims to continue his professional development and still understands that he has a lot to learn about investing, even after almost three decades in the industry.
