BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that India would like to host the 2020 Indian Premier League but he also mentioned that nothing has been decided about the tournament yet. The IPL 2020 was earlier decided to begin from March 29 but later got suspended until April 15 due to the global pandemic novel coronavirus and now it stands indefinitely suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. However, with the new guidelines of 'Unlock 1.0' which gives permission to sports events, the BCCI hopes to host the tournament this year as well.

Meanwhile, Ganguly said to Sportskeeda that BCCI has been looking at all options but they are not yet sure when the game can resume since it is tough to predict. The IPL's future could be decided on June 10 when the International Cricket Council takes a call on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2020 which is scheduled to be held in Australia later this year. However, there are talks that the IPL could take place if the T20 World Cup is postponed for this year. Even, the reports also came that India could host the cash-rich league to another country if the situation here at home does not get better anytime soon.

"If at all IPL does happen, we don’t know where it could happen. India would certainly like to host the event, provided the environment is safe. Right now, we are not in a position to say anything. It is too early. We are yet to officially discuss the IPL schedule. But it depends on the safety of the environment. Saving human life and breaking the coronavirus chain are more important for all of us," Ganguly further added.

While talking about himself, Sourav Ganguly said that he is maintaining the guidelines and staying at home as well. He also shared that he has been helping people as much as he could, although he is not sure how many people benefited through his charity foundation. But he is trying his best amid this crisis.
