Canada West Universities Athletic Association Organizing a Number of Sports Championships for Men and Women

 
Canada West is a leading university athletic conference in the Canada, with member schools stretching from British Columbia to Manitoba. It is home to champion student-athletes, and often organizes a number of sports championships. Canada West along with its 17 member institutions aims to enhance athletic and academic excellence, and contribute to prepare the future professional athletes and leaders.

Originally, the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (WCIAU) was formed in the year 1919-20 as the first recognized western-based post-secondary athletic organization in Canada. In the year 1920, the University of Manitoba won the first-ever league championship, a men's hockey title. In 1971, the WCIAU got split into the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) and the Great Plains Athletic Association (GPAA).

A proud member of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), the Canada West Universities Athletic Association organizes a number of sports events for both men and women. The sports available for men include basketball, football, ice hockey, soccer, volleyball, cross country, swimming, track and field, and wrestling. For women, the list includes sports such as basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, rugby, soccer, volleyball, cross country, swimming, track and field, and wrestling.
