Family trying to locate owner of wedding band found in water in Ocean City

A family of four from the Pittsburgh area was visiting Ocean City last week when they found a surprising souvenir in the water.

In an email to The Baltimore Sun, Robin Porter wrote that her 6-year-old son Quinn found what appears to be a men’s silver wedding band on July 24 after a dip in the ocean near 33rd Street.

“He loves to collect and keep just about everything, but we never imagined he'd find anything so significant,” Porter wrote.

Engraved inside were the date — “11-10-12” — and the person’s initials, which Porter wrote that she has decided to keep to herself to help identify the owner.

“We also thought it was ironic that [Quinn’s] birthday is the same as the date on the ring,” she wrote.

Robin took photos and “put some faith in the power of Facebook” in attempts to find the owner. Her post, as of Tuesday morning, has been shared more than 7,000 times.

Though she thought she found a match via Craigslist, Robin said she hasn’t had any luck finding the owner yet. She’s still on the search, according to her Facebook post.

“Would love to return to owner... if he still wants it!” she wrote with a laughing emoji.
