Lonny Bernath of Charlotte, North Carolina started life in Middletown, New York State in the United States. His parents relocated when Bernath was only 2 to Miami Beach in Florida, where he spent his formative years to age 23. Thoroughly steeped in life as a Floridian, Bernath enrolled at Florida International University in Miami, where he graduated first in his class with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. Bernath went right to work, taking a position at Entenmann’s, Incorporated as an industrial engineer charged with making cost reducing innovations in the manufacturing division. After several years, Bernath took a Project Engineer position with Nabisco in Chicago, Illinois, supervising the installation of equipment in the Chicago plant.

Lonny Bernath took another Project Engineer position with Frito Lay, Incorporated in Plano, Texas in the United States, where he designed and implemented innovative display solutions for grocery store setups around the United States. His duties at Frito Lay included organizing local management and contractors for successful display rollouts for designated market areas, while he sold his project developments internally to marketing and upper management. Bernath returned to Toledo, Ohio during this time for his wedding to Julie.

After his stint at Frito Lay in Plano, Texas, Lonny Bernath chose to expand his career options by adding a Master’s in Business Administration to his resume, concentrating in financial management and engineering. He and Julie made the major move to Boston, Massachusetts in 2001 where Bernath enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management. While living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Bernath focused his studies on financial management and marketing, beginning the Headline Capital Management and Headline Partners Limited Partnership while completing his studies. Not only did Bernath earn his MBA, but he became a father during his time in Boston, where his first daughter Abby was born. His daughter Ava was born in North Carolina.

Lonny Bernath left Boston in 2003, relocating yet again, this time to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continues to live and work today. Bernath devoted his career during this time to his Headline Capital Management firm, closing $30M in funding over the first 5 years of his firm’s life.
