Locket, a UK insurtech recently named as one of the hottest startups in Europe, has begun recruiting reformed thieves and burglars to help its customers avoid becoming victims themselves.

London, UK. Locket, an up-and-coming insurtech recently nominated as one of Europe’s hottest startups, has announced an unusual new partnership - with a notorious ex-burglar known as Michael Fraser.

Micheal joins Locket as a white-hat security consultant for a series of in-depth videos exposing the secrets and psychology of Britain’s burglars - and how to avoid becoming a victim yourself. The series explores the hidden signs that burglars use to spot easy targets like unoccupied homes, as well as the simple changes you can make around the home to protect yourself and deter intruders. "Industries like IT and software have long understood the power of hiring ex-hackers and cyber-criminals to keep them safe", says CEO Krystian Zajac. "We wanted to take the idea of a 'white hat' or 'ethical hacker' and apply it to other common threats, like thefts and burglaries". Zajac says the company plans to hire all sorts of reformed criminals to reveal their secrets and help Locket's customers avoid becoming victims themselves.

Locket is a tech-driven home insurance startup known for its suite of advanced safety and security tools - often made available to all UK homeowners, free of charge. The company recently released a new free feature called Occupancy Mode, which harnesses popular smart speakers to fool thieves into thinking the home is occupied when it isn’t. Both Fraser’s educational videos and the new Occupancy mode are available for free in Locket’s apps for iOS and Android.
