Another type of patio awning that is probably the most popular among patio enthusiasts is retractable patio awnings.

A nice patio is a perfect feature to improve the quality of your home. You can host a party, barbecue, a get together or whatever you want on your patio. However, what if it begins to rain on your party or barbecue, what do you do There really is nothing you can do except retreat indoors, but you would not have to do that if you had a patio awning sheltering your patio. There are many different types of patio awnings that fall under many different budgets, so you have to decide which type is best for you.

One type of patio awning is just a typical canopy awning which has to be put up and taken down for every occasion. The benefits to this type of awning are that they are rather inexpensive and can be bought in many different sizes to accommodate the needs of your patio. The downfalls to a canopy awning are that you have to put it up before every occasion and then take them down after or if you want to let some sun in. Leaving this type of awning up indefinitely can damage the awning because a storm or high winds can pass through and demolish the awning. If you are looking for the cheapest way to shelter your patio then a canopy awning is probably the way to go, but if you can afford to get a better awning then you should do so.

Another type of patio awning that is probably the most popular among patio enthusiasts is retractable patio awnings. Retractable patio awnings can be bought in all different sizes to accommodate your patio, but can be extended and retracted. A retractable patio awning attaches to the wall over the door leading to your patio and can be extended all the way out easily or retracted all the way back against the wall when needed. This means that you can shelter everyone against the elements when you have too and then retract it back to let in a little sun all with ease. Some retractable awnings can even be motorized, meaning you can extend and retract the awning all with the click of a button.

The last type of patio awning is essentially a permanent roof built over the patio. A permanent awning can be built out of many different materials such as wood, aluminum, synthetic wood and different types of metals. Building a permanent awning over your patio can make your patio more appealing and add to the quality of your home, but can be extremely expensive to build because you are building a whole new structure rather than just an awning. Another downfall to building a permanent awning is that it may need repaired as time passes by, and could sustain damage from storms and wind damage.

Listed above are three different types of patio awnings that you can use to shelter your patio. A canopy awning is definitely the most inexpensive of the options but can also prove to be a great hassle sometimes. The retractable awning is the second cheapest and poses the most benefits of all the options, while the permanent awning is pretty expensive and could need repairs later on down the road. All you have to do now is decide which awning fits your needs and your wallet.
