A dog surely would be the best company you can wish for at home, but before you get one, know very well if you are ready or not. If you check online or even with reputed vets, they would give you a lot of information on spaying dogs. And this is something that you should know, so that you make the right choice when adopting a dog.

To know if this is the right moment to adopt a dog, we would ask you to read on and be well informed for the same.
1. You should do your homework about taking care of dogs as pets. There is so much to learn, such as housebreaking, ear cropping, training the pet, behavioral issues they may face, exercises meant for the dog breed etc.
2. You should also learn about which dog you should adopt, one that would be best suited for your home and for the family.
3. Do you have enough time to take care of the dog on a daily basis?
4. Would you be able to give your pet the love and care, exercise and the best food it needs?
5. Have you learnt more about spaying dogs from the vet and other experts with dogs around?
6. Would your children feel safe and comfortable having a dog at home?
7. Ask yourself if you have enough money to bring in the best toys, food, medical and health care needs for your dog. What about ear cropping, spaying, training, grooming, or even boarding and lodging when you wish to go on vacation?
8. Have you learnt enough about medical issues such as heartworm, fleas, hip issues, eyes issues, and let’s not forget the importance of spaying dogs as well.
9. Most of all, you want to adopt a pet, but are you willing to live with it as a family member? Are you sure your kids wouldn’t tease, annoy or pull fast one’s on the animal when left alone with it, this could make it cranky?
10. Would you be able to teach your dogs the best behavior, so that it doesn’t jump on others when greeting them? What about spaying dogs issues and housebreaking, obedience training and even house mannerism lessons? Have you done your homework on that?
11.
There is a reason why we ask would be pet owners to check with their needs first before getting a dog at home. Spaying dogs have issues and only expert vets would be able to help you with further information, so please heed their advice and don’t be your own doctor for the pet.

Ear cropping is not a must for most breeds, but your vet would look at the breed you adopt and would tell you what best should be done. And when you are travelling, would you be sure of a safe place for your dogs to be at till you return? Remember, having a dog is like bringing home a new born human child; commitment is needed here and for a whole lifetime.
