Rightly, quoted there really is no limit to what we as women can achieve, to our strength. The only thing we need to find is our voices. In a society like ours where majority of the population resides in rural India. Women from the very beginning are taught to be gentle, to live others dream, to be obedient and make for an excellent household women. Similarly, Umri a small village in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. The women mostly, stay at home, performing household chores, and are educated till 5th standard. Lakshyam, in association with IRCON International Ltd. (A Govt. Of India Undertaking) after understanding the background and the growth levels in the area have come forward to establish centre in Umri.
Lakshyam, founded in 2012 by Ms. Raashi Anand, young social entrepreneur with a forward thinking to empower women and children. Since its formation Lakshyam has come forward to provide women with skill and financial training program. Women for centuries had to fight, and make the chauvinists patriarchal society of ours realise that women can too be empowered. But down the line, after centuries women are still counted amongst the marginalised strata of the society. Lakshyam, vows to put end to these and empower women under its Rooh Program. On the other hand, IRCON International Ltd. A public entity functioning under Union Govt. established in 1976. Under its CSR and responsibility initiative, IRCON India Ltd. has taken up an array of commencement relating to environment, health, education and women empowerment. Under its Rooh Program Lakshyam in association with IRCON International Ltd. has successfully launched and established a centre in Umri village of Guna District, Madhya Pradesh.

When one walks around in Umri, observes a true sight of rural India but with certain degree of basic facilities available like electricity and water, kacha roads. The women are mostly daily wage earners or performed household chores, the average women in the area have studied from 5th standard till B.A from nearby public school or colleges respectively. They are aware about basic stitching. Under these circumstances and Lakshyam understanding about the area a centre has been established in Umri in association with IRCON International Ltd. on 1st November’19. The women are associated from the village are provided with basic skill and financial literacy programs. Under the skill training program women are taught basic cloth bag stitching. Also, contributing towards ‘No Plastic’ policy supported by lakshyam for a better environment. The average women can earn upto Rs. 3000 to Rs. 4000 a month. The women can only be empowered when they know and have knowledge, freedom of their income. The financial literacy program gives them a sense of saving and investment. This contributes towards their self-sustainability. The women come to the centre and work there which gives them an advantage of working but also can side by side look towards their house and cater to the needs of the children.
Lakshyam, in its ten years of existence has really touched hundreds of thousands of lives by empowering the women. It has successfully marked a journey of many women while holding their hands from a journey of under-privileged to a journey privileged one. Women are the most effected of all, Lakshyam understands the needs of these and aims to put an end to their misery. The intuitive of Lakshyam in Umri has and will change the future of many women, giving them a sense of freedom.
