Katy, TX., July 5, 2013 - Summertime can bring out a different kind of bug and other challenges in your expensive manicured lawn and garden landscapes. And as part of its total customer service to its clients, Personal Touch Landscape Inc. has released its quarterly report on helpful tips for the season.

According to the Personal Touch Landscape Inc., a company that was originally established in 1988 in Katy, Texas but has since expanded its comprehensive landscaping services to Sugarland, Cypress, Rosenberg, Fulshear, Brookshire, the number one bug to watch out for during the hot and dry summer days is the chinch bug.

Chinch bugs can populate on one square foot of land by as much as 200 and its growth frequently remains unnoticed because of its tiny size and dark coloration that can be easily camouflaged in turf grass and thatch.

Chinch bugs, which have long dark bodies and white wings folded across their backs, are actually quite easy to recognize but hard to see because of its pinhead size.

Joe Traci, co-founder of the Personal Touch Landscape Inc, said that one sign that you have a chinch bug infestation is the “expanding, irregular patches of dead or stunted grass surrounded by a halo of yellowing, dying grass.”

Another challenge to look out for is the grub worms that are usually found in garden and lawn top soil. Grub worms are actually the larvae of the May or June beetle and are quite difficult control especially during the summer months.

In this case, you might see according to Mr. Traci “irregular brown patches of lawn that peel away easily from the soil, like carpet.”
During the hot dry days of the summer months, it is best to water your lawn about 1 inch deep about twice a week. Bear in mind that dry lawns encourage chinch bug growth. And in cases of severe infestation, it is better to call some professional help before your entire lawn turn brown and die off.

Personal Touch Landscape Inc. started as a family-owned operated business and has since grown into a full-scale company with in-house staff that includes Landscape Designers, Licensed Irrigator (#8605) and Drainage Professionals, Stone Masons, and Arbor Specialists.
The company offers the following service: Landscape Plantings, Patios, Water Features, Outdoor Lighting, Outdoor Kitchens, Patio Covers, Pergolas, Irrigation, Drainage, Landscape Maintenance, and Tree Service.

Other maintenance services includes: lawn and landscape maintenance services, including seasonal flower planting, bed mulch renewal, regular lawn maintenance and care, hedge trimming, tree trimming, bed cleaning, and plant and tree care.
