Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its revolutionary flagship smartphone, the new Galaxy Note Edge in India. Samsung’s relentless pursuit of the best in innovation through the optimisation of mobile technology and the user experience has led to the debut of the innovative and unique Galaxy Note Edge.

This premium device is the first smartphone of its kind with the next generation edge display that reinvents the way users interact with their smartphones. The Galaxy Note Edge not only embraces Samsung’s heritage of an unrivalled Note experience but takes the smartphone experience to the next level. With its one-of-a-kind Edge Screen, this new device offers users a revolutionary way to use their mobiles. The Note Edge makes multitasking simpler and more efficient, resonating Samsung’s consumer-centric approach that has catapulted the Note category to phenomenal success.

The curved display is secured inside metal brackets, making it as durable as the flat screen. The left side is curved slightly as well, giving the smartphone an aesthetic balance and design harmony.

Premium Curved Screen

Galaxy Note Edge comes with a 5.6 inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display that delivers an unparalleled viewing experience reproducing crystal clear images with precise colour saturation and high contrast ratio. The unique Edge screen provides quick access to frequently used applications, alerts and device functions–even when the cover is closed–all with the swipe of a thumb. The Note Edge allows users to enjoy the immersive screen interruption free since it gives access to email, Internet, applications, notifications, news and more without disturbing the content on the main screen.

Personalised Design and Information Stream

The Galaxy Edge screen also helps users to express their personality and tastes by allowing them to design their own Edge screen with their favourite images and text, including those composed with the S Pen. Additionally, useful tools, such as ruler, stopwatch, timer, flashlight and voice recorder, can be launched through the Edge Screen’s Quick Tool feature. Night clock mode dimly displays the time, alarm and weather and is easily viewable when the Galaxy Note Edge is placed by the bedside.

The Edge screen can be customised to update users on topics they are interested in, such as a stock ticker, news updates, scores, battery indicator, a shortcut bar, and more.

Brighter and Clearer Images with Advanced Camera

Galaxy Note Edge is equipped to shoot brighter and clearer images using Rear and Front camera. The 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera with a F1.9 lens allows default 90 degree shooting while the Wide Selfie mode allows users to capture selfies covering angles up to 120 degrees. The 16 megapixel rear camera with Smart OIS lets users click shake free photos even in dark surroundings. Meanwhile, camera control buttons are positioned on the Edge screen, so that users can capture and record their special moments while looking through a clean screen.

S Pen and S Note Reinvent Everyday Tasks

Making everyday tasks much faster and easier, the Galaxy Note Edge’s S Pen has been specifically evolved to serve as the primary interface for routine tasks. The S Pen serves as the key to a more user-friendly Air Command functionality with intuitive features such as Action Memo, Smart Select, Image Clip and Screen Write that allow users to create and collect content with ease. A new Smart Select feature enables users to easily piece together content from different origins, and share or collect it with ease.

The Galaxy Note Edge also provides users with a choice of multiple, seamless note-taking methods integrated with Samsung’s S Note application. In addition to typing and writing, the innovative Photo Note feature allows users to take a picture and convert the image into editable format within the S-Note. They can also further unleash their creativity by jotting down their thoughts quickly with the Voice Memo.

Superior Battery Life

Samsung has laid emphasis on the battery life of the Galaxy Note Edge so as to ensure that the users enjoy the host of features without interruption. The Adaptive Fast Charging feature in the Galaxy Note Edge charges the battery from 0% to 50% which is 30% faster than conventional charging. The Ultra Power Saving Mode complements the fast charging by ensuring that users don’t run out of power when they need it most.

Price and availability

The Samsung GALAXY Note Edge will be available for sale from January first week through select retailers at a market price of INR 64,900. The Galaxy Note Edge will be available in "Charcoal Black," and "Frost White" in India.
