Kevin Gofron has been a member of the Illinois Bass Anglers Association for a full 10 years.

As a hardworking entrepreneur in the field of pressure sensitive adhesive label making, it is certainly a wonder that Kevin Gofron has time for much else. However, maintaining a work-life balance is important enough to Kevin Gofron that he is now celebrating a full ten years of membership with the Illinois Bass Anglers association.

“To be totally honest, the fishing came first,” says Kevin Gofron. “I’ve been fishing since I was a very young child. My father always took me out to the creek in the afternoons, and we had some great conversations. I learned a lot from him about fishing as a sport—as an art, really.”

It was his lifelong passion for bass fishing that brought Kevin Gofron to the Illinois Bass Anglers Association. His 22 years of dedication to the label making business have prepared Kevin Gofron to approach any endeavor, whether in work or in leisure, with strategy and enthusiasm. “I have always been oriented toward results,” notes Kevin Gofron.

However, strategizing in the fishing world is not an exact science. “I have found that fishing is a great sport because it serves as a reminder that your strategy, your cast, all of it—you can be on point, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen.” The unpredictable nature of fishing is where Kevin Gofron finds his enjoyment. “We do our best, of course, but the fun is in the waiting, watching, trying to time it all in exactly the right way.”

Kevin Gofron has even competed in competitions hosted by the Illinois Bass Anglers Association with a teammate or partner fisherman. “Teamwork is important in the working world,” says Kevin Gofron, “and it is also crucial when you are working together out on the water.” The tournaments are catch-and-release only.

Kevin Gofron loves the competitions hosted by the Illinois Bass Anglers Association, as well as their willingness to accommodate all levels of sport anglers, from beginners to seasoned sport fishers. The Association also accommodates members who do not have their own boats, so that everyone who wants to be involved in sport fishing is able to be Kevin Gofron urges anyone in the area with an interest in bass fishing to check them to register.
