Many people think industrial interior design in Burnaby looks and feels utilitarian and masculine.

It can also be associated with words like “cold”. But it doesn’t have to be. You can have industrial interior design in Burnaby that feels warm and inviting while keeping up with the design elements you might come to expect from an industrial interior design.

The following are some ways for you to have that warm and inviting feeling when you have industrial interior design in Burnaby:

1. Take advantage of natural light.

Bring attention to big windows. Rather than cover them up with thick curtains, highlight them. There’s nothing like a room basking in lots of natural light. It will make it instantly warm and inviting no matter what you have going on there.

If you are going for an industrial interior design, you would also want to include big windows in the design scheme. You can soften it up with big French-type windows. Choose a black grid and frame so that it works with the industrial aesthetic you have.

2. Create a focal wall.

Raw elements are commonplace in industrial interior design. Think exposed, unpainted, unfinished concrete walls. But rather than have them everywhere, pick a focal wall where you can use this as a statement design. You can have the rest of the room finished but that focal wall remains exposed. It creates a good balance between the unfinished and finished parts of the room and makes it feel more polished.

3. Mix iron with wood.

Iron, particularly black iron, is a common material used in industrial interior design in Burnaby. It gives off that hard and masculine vibe. But if you want to soften it up a little, mixing it with a bit of wood will give that inviting effect. For instance, if you already have exposed wood and iron railings or furniture, go for wood hardwood flooring.

4. Play with textures.

Don’t be afraid to have textures in your space. For instance, you can hang wall decors that have interesting textures or go for throw pillows with raised elements.

5. Pick your furniture properly.

Go for cloud couches for that softening effect. There’s nothing like a big and plushy couch to make a space look and feel more inviting.

Finish it off with plants. Some greenery in your space can go a long way in making it look warmer. You can also get the help of Kern if you don’t know where and how to start creating an industrial interior design.
