Gum disease is a common problem which is continuously increasing right from the children to adults. Gum problem can further lead to tooth loss. Strong teeth need healthy gums to sustain the teeth.

Strong teeth need healthy gums to sustain the teeth. The main cause of having gum disease is due to the formation of bacteria’s in plague. There are some bacteria which can be harmful for the gums. It is important to remove the plagues from the teeth. Plague is a sticky particles formed around the teeth. If not taken proper care to remove such plagues, then they keep on increasing and further damages the teeth. A person with gum disease may experience bad breath and have a chance that a person’s teeth may start to bleed while brushing.

There are many types of gums problems that can affect the tissues whose function is to support teeth. Such gums problems include- gingivitis (found in 50% of adults), periodontitis (found in 25% of adults), periodontal abscess, and gum recession. Such gum problems should never be avoided and must consult the doctor to get the treatment. The chances of developing gums problems increases if a person have diabetes or have the habit of smoking. Gum problems can make the bones of the jaw weaker. Problems that can take place if a person with gum disease don’t take necessary measures to cure it are- receding gums, painful collection of pus, loose teeth, and in the extreme case it may even cause loss of teeth. Risk of losing teeth increases if a person’s age is above 65 years and it may be even due to the result of poor nutrition.
