Silestone is perfect material for all types of quartz surfaces and countertops for kitchens and bathrooms. It is the first and only quartz worktop with anti-bacterial protection.

London, 20th November 2017: One of the latest studies by the Silestone Institute has showcased certain features which depicts a ‘KITCHEN of the future’. The main theme while designing kitchens in the future, will inculcate efficiency in terms of the physical characteristics of the materials employed, focusing on energy-saving, flexibility and above all, sustainability. Worktops of the future will allow for a stress-free cooking experience which will take place directly over the surfaces without the worry of scratching, staining, etching, peeling, and the materials in which these are based, will be highly resistant to extreme temperatures too. Although Cosentino produces Dekton and Silestone which already have achieved most of these characteristics,

Future surfaces will also facilitate connectivity and serve as a “control panel” for other appliances. Further to this worktop will provide the user with nutritional information and value of the food they are preparing, which twill prove beneficial not only to upkeep the health of the user and their family, but also make wise food purchasing decisions and healthier options.

The fate of smart kitchens will depend completely upon the connectivity to other smart devices such as laptops, computers, smart phones, fridges, hobs and ovens, etc. Future kitchens will have hydroponic crops that will provide food within the shortest distance from a home-grown farm to the consumer's plate. There will also be 3D food printers that will give the future users a new perspective of 'printing' recipes easily. Worktops with adjustable heights will be made entirely possible using embedded technologies. Additionally, the worktops will also serve as digital surfaces to carry out other tasks such work and office.

An insider from a leading supplier of high quality stone kitchen worktops, MKW surfaces was quoted saying, “Global Kitchen is an international project providing valuable insights into the kitchen of the future and aims to become an essential reference tool for both industry professionals and end users.” He also added, “It creates the opportunity for multidisciplinary reflection to analyse the effect of globalisation on kitchen architecture and design, to determine how this space will develop over the next 25 years.”

A major insight drawn from the above-mentioned report is that the kitchen will play both a family and business-centric role inside most homes. Instead of being separate spaces, a kitchen will assume an essential role in the lives of families. More than 87% of the total 842 professional kitchen showrooms and design studios that were interviewed for this study said that kitchens would become more than ever, relevant and that they transform into an both an activity and meeting place inside any house. Cosentino, makers of Silestone, also added that kitchens will be illuminated by smart lighting varying according to the time of day, mood, or even according to the type of food being cooked, making ambience adaptable and enhancing further user its users’ experience.
