Transgender help. A support website for all mature transgender people age fifty and older.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gainesville, Florida (March 5, 2014) - It is not easy to transition into a transgender person. Although many friends and family will accept this change, sometimes there is fear that those close to a person may not. When a person feels like they are trapped in the body of the wrong gender, it can be hard to know where to turn to. Now a new blog called Mature Transgender provides information to those who are looking to understand the journey of a transgender transition.

Blogger, Cate O’Malley is a mature transwoman who began her transition seven years ago when she was 57 years of age. Cate wanted to create an outreach website for people mainly over 50 years old since there are very little resources available for those in this age range. Mature Transgender is a safe and family-friendly site that Cate uses to tell her story of coming out as a transwoman and to provide safe and accurate transgender resources for other transpeople, their friends, and family.

Not only does Cate provide her story and resources, but allows others to ask questions, posts stories and opinions, and provide a safe place to ask for help. One of the tabs on the blog called Your Page allows those in the transgender community to post their stories, journeys, opinions, and other comments they want to share in the Mature Transgender community.

Cate posts through a variety of categories that include posts about her journey, challenges as a Mature Transgender person, general transgender information, about the transgender life, and more.

Cate says, “All of my life I’ve known there was something different with me and there was something unsettled in my soul. Growing up in a small, very conservative Ohio farm town, there were not many opportunities to explore the wide spectrum of personalities. So I did what was expected of me… My transition has been slow and steady. [My wife and I are] doing it together, with help of friends, family, qualified professionals and much, much love.”

This type of transgender resource is incredibly beneficial for those looking to discuss LGBT aging issues. Whether someone is looking to understand a Mature Transgender experience or looking for guidance as they take the leap and need support to come out, this blog is especially useful, knowledgeable, and beneficial to the process.
