This Press Release intends to inform the readers about the inspiring story of Harry Coumnas, a 100 years old monk who lives in the Himalayan Mountains.

Did you know that the Buddha was born a prince? Although he could spend his entire life in a beautiful palace where everything is served to him at one call, he chose to live a life of a monk. Harry Coumnas, a 100 years old monk who lives in the Himalayan Mountains has almost the same story.

At the age of 23, he chose to abandon a lavish lifestyle he had after realizing how worthless materialism is. He was born to a rich hotelier father from South Africa who had a chain of hotels all over the world, while his mother was one of the top realtors in the country. Despite having every luxury one could ask for, he wasn’t happy and always felt that something is missing. Being a kind-hearted person, he often donated to charities and volunteered with local organizations that worked towards the betterment of the society.

The one experience that changed the entire life of Harry Coumnas was a spiritual retreat to the Himalayas. He found it extremely fascinating how the monks kept the material possessions to a minimum & only held what they actually needed to live their life. Apart from the fact that they completely de-cluttered their life, he also liked how compassionately they did things for others. It took Harry no time to decide that this was the life he wanted to live, and stayed back forever. He has since been living the life of a monk and enjoying every bit of it.
