A two part "Climate Change and Sustainable Development" lecture series by Heifer,

During the month of April please join us at the Green Buddha Life Sustainability Center (205 W. Galena Blvd, Aurora, IL) as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day month with a free Climate Justice & Sustainable Development lecture series organized by Heifer International.

The Heifer lectures will take place on the last two Sundays of Earth Month, April 19th and 26th from 2:30 to 4:00 PM. Both lectures will be delivered by Heifer's Community Engagement Coordinator, Beth Gunzel.

I. Climate Change and Hunger, April 19th
This first presentation will explore how the effects of climate change (droughts, extreme floods, super storms) threaten the integrity of food systems; and demonstrated successful techniques used to manage these problems.

II. Climate Change and Disaster Reduction, April 26th

The second presentation will explore how and why the rural poor are particularly vulnerable to climate disasters. Heifer will discuss their approach to implementing their Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction program to help these communities.
