Florida, USA – 10/21/2021: Artistic license garners mixed reactions from the audience. Used as a tool to spice up the mundanities in biographical retellings and reimaginations, it’s quite easy to tip the balance to the extent that the nonfictional characters end up being mere plot devices.

However, the rare few that do get it right have earned heaps of praise and attention for maintaining the balance between fiction and nonfiction in biographical fiction writing. Among those known for such careful fictitious handling of real people is Amazon writer Joseph Woodward.

Woodward was born and raised in central Ohio and currently resides with his immediate and extended family in Florida. Even though he’s relatively new to novel-writing, having had a career in marketing, music, and public relations for most of his life, his connection to creative writing is anything but new.

Describing his recent career change, Woodward said, “When I worked in marketing, I had a knack for saying more in the unsaid than I did in the explicitly stated. After I retired, my mind never stopped creating—this time with real people—so, before I could change my mind, I put pen to paper. I started with the people closest to me: Ernest and Frances Woodward, and published Another Chance, the first book of the Lost Between the Continents trilogy, and the rest, as they say, is history.”

By rewriting the lives of those closest to him, Woodward has an advantage that many others lack: a personal perspective. So far, the writer has lent this narrative to many books, including the follow-ups to Another Chance, Healing Hands and Sudden Freedom, the standalone novel The Three Husbands of Annabelle, and an anthology called Pocket Book of Short Stories.

Recently, Woodward branched out into action-adventure, having debuted with Back Running, book 1 in The Power Run trilogy, with a sequel, Back Online, currently in the works.
