Many people seek ways to train the brain in order to increase the power of the mind. Parents especially indulge and force their kids into such activities in order to boost their little brains. Game developers and profit minting entrepreneurs found a way to tap this market by developing fun brain games. These games are either free online games or in terms of video games. Websites such as Funbrain offer educational and less interactive games that cater young, school going children. However, the question remains do these games really help activate the mind power? Or is it all a myth?

A few researches have concluded that online activity does increase the brain’s ability to be strong and be receptive to analytical skills. Online activity does not mean socializing on virtual networks, but “researching” or surfing the internet. Your brain is activated to finding things and probing where you are “surfed” from one website to another. Thus, you brain’s power is boosted once your brain cells are activated. Many internet users, however, download fun brain games or seek for free flash games in a bid to activate brain cells which in turn would help them to build analytical and strategic skills.

Apart from video games, Funbrain games do help train the brain in learning basic mathematics skills as well as grammar skills. They help in increasing logic and memory of the brain. Visual skills are also improved through these games. So how does a brain train? Basically, the process goes like this that the games expose your brain functions to focus on the activities such as solving puzzles, finding strategies etc. However, it is argued that video games have some hidden brain trainers such as strategies that are needed in multi-player games. But the legitimacy of this notion is still questioned.

For parents of young kids, well video games and online surfing for that matter, isn’t much appreciated. Yet, there are some fun brain games and activities that could be played without using technology. All you need is to interact with your child and let them be creative. The best science project that they could do is making a volcano out of a bottle of soda. Open the bottle and drop in an entire packet of Mentos quickly and run away. The bottle would explode and what children would be having is fun while learning about the logic behind gases’ behavior.

Another way to study the different temperatures of ice melting, give your kids a cube of ice which one can hold in their hands and one on a grassy area. Bring out board games to brush up the analytical skills of your children like chess and clue. Play monopoly to brush up your kids’ mathematics and money management skills. Such fun brain activities will give your children a chance to learn some skills while interacting with you. They would become more creative and they will develop more skills practically. However, if some adults still want to activate the brain cells, then they should probably carry on surfing the internet.
