There are a lot of jewellery shops that offer these kinds of fashion jewellery. You can even find them in offline department stores and the numerous online shops that cater to these items.

30th July 2012 - This summer, opt for a tribal accented choker, made of rough, polished beads, or a floral pendant made from scraps of paper, and flaunt them at the latest pool party, with panache. The demand for costume jewellery has never been higher, as more people acknowledge the oodles of style and chic that ooze out from the quirky and innovative designs, which are incorporated into the different ranges of cosmetic jewellery.
The field of Fashion Jewellery is not new, and indeed, it has been conspicuously present. This period was known as the Art Deco period of costume jewellery. This period was characterised by large, chunky pieces of jewellery, such as rings, cocktail earrings and ornately decorated accessories like cigarette holders. Then, there was the famous Retro Period between the years 1935 and 1950.
This period is still revisited from time to time, as people try out fashion jewellery in bright, neon colours, and floral patterns, coupled with elaborate designs that are implemented into the pieces of jewellery in order to impress. Towards the end of the Retro period and the beginning of the Art Modern Period, the styles became more compact and streamlined, rather than being too bold. There were newer materials incorporated into the making of costume jewellery, including rhinestones and Bakelite.
Other dominant materials used in the making of costume jewellery include base metals, synthetic stones and semi-precious stones. The designing of these jewellery pieces can also be brought about at home, by making necklaces out of beads strung together, or gluing units of artificial stones on a base, in order to create a bracelet. The dominant trends this season include innovative, asymmetric patterns and whorls that are discernibly seen in pendants and earrings.
Plastic jewellery is also sported by several people, what with bow-shaped lockets, and bright coloured plastic anklets. Another feature includes the flexibility of this style of jewellery, as it lends itself quite easily, to any kind of material and design that a person comes up with. Costume jewellery has been in vogue for quite some time now, and holds promise for the future too.
