It may often be very difficult for commercial pool owners or residents of Orange County to tell if their swimming pools are actively losing water. If your commercial complex has water slides, fountains, splash deck, or any large surface of water, your property is automatically subjected to heavy evaporation bare-minimum, not to mention if your property naturally leaks due to pools and spas in need of repair, this could be very costly for your commercial property.

Experts state that anything more than 1/4 inch over 24 hours may definitely point to an issue.

But before you worry about taking out a second loan for swimming pool repairs, please keep in mind that there are Orange County pool maintenance specialists always waiting to offer their high-level assistance, even providing pool owners with ideas on how to possibly correct the problem themselves.
We serve 2 properties with this specific issue near the ocean in Laguna Beach, and one further inland in Anaheim. Believe it or not the foundation/ sand your pool is built upon is something to keep in mind when your pool is losing 2,000 gallons a day.

Not to mention costly downtime as your pool is an important part of your day-to-day leisure, so make sure to find out quickly if you need to take action.
First, check for wet areas or puddles around the swimming pool. It is easiest to judge when the pool has not been in use for a few days, making it less difficult to differentiate between water splashed out of the pool and water possibly leaking from the pool.

Next you will want to thoroughly inspect the filter, the pump and the connecting hoses. If you have a heater, also check around its connector, and call your Orange County pool heater repair center if anything looks abnormal in any way.

If your pool has a vinyl liner, then check for any rips or tears around the edges, and even see if you can feel any separations along the bottom of the liner or the walls.

If you have a concrete or fiberglass pool, squirt food coloring around any cracks or lines to see if it is sucked in through what could likely be a damaged area.
To confirm the leak, use a piece of waterproof tape at the water-line for a marker, and then check it in a day to see if the water has fallen below the tape. You can also opt to place a weighted bucket on a pool step and mark the levels on the inside and outside. If the water has dropped further below the line on the outside of the bucket, then there is likely a leak in the swimming pool.

When you have followed the above tips and are pretty certain that a leak does exist, turn off the skimmer to see if the water stops at the bottom of the skimmer, which will indicate that the leak is most likely somewhere throughout the filtration system. If the water stops at the pool light, the leak could be there. If it stops below the light, it is probably toward the bottom of the pool. However, if the water level drops pretty quickly, begin to fill the pool back up and immediately reach out to your Orange County spa and pool maintenance center.

Once you ascertain that your pool does have a leak and you have the area of the leak located, it may just be an easy fix! And with your Orange County pool service center on speed dial, you are just a quick phone call away from some helpful, expert advice!

Some leak repair instructions may include some do-it-yourself techniques, which will be easy on the wallet!

To repair a skimmer leak, purchase pool putty at your Orange County pool repair store, and apply it to the problem area, ask your local service professional or give us a call if you would like a professional company to handle this for you.

For liner damage, you can usually patch the leak with a patch kit, except for large tears, holes or splits. Concrete and fiberglass pools can also be patched.
To fix various other leaks, such as around pipes and connectors, you may typically use epoxy, silicone and caulk.

Some of theses repairs can get a bit complicated, and it is often very difficult to patch a leak on the button of the pool. So if you ever feel as if you've gotten in a bit over your head, do not hesitate to contact an Orange County pool maintenance specialist.
