Through Centennial College's marketing training - called Business Administration – Marketing - graduates obtain an Ontario College Advanced Diploma, and the knowledge and skills required to pursue careers as: promotions assistants, advertising assistants, marketing coordinators, marketing analysts, sales representatives, assistant brand managers, and public relations and advertising assistants.
Although students gain a wide range of knowledge, the main focus of the offering is to ensure they learn the know-how marketers need to address consumer needs; develop products and services to meet those needs; anticipate competitors' actions and react swiftly to shifts in the environment; develop pricing and communications strategies; and interact with suppliers, customers and the public - all while looking out for their clients' best interests.
Because Centennial College prides itself on a practical approach to teaching, students learn through interactive experiences such as computer simulations and technologies (including the latest marketing software), presentations, case studies, guest lectures, and an industry project. The industry project is sponsored by an entrepreneurial endeavour, small business or major company, which gives students an idea of what they will encounter upon graduation.
Before attending specific marketing research, marketing communications, interactive marketing and brand planning classes, students gain an overview of business administration through a curriculum that is common among Centennial College's other business programs.
In addition to the educational benefits of the business marketing program, students also benefit from Centennial College's status as the most diverse college in the Greater Toronto Area. “I found that if I am going to do marketing, then I need to market to everyone and this is the perfect college to do it,” says student Brian.
