Quick Ride - An app that has reduced 34,700 Tons of Carbon Footprint and counting…

Global energy consumption in 2018 has increased at nearly twice the average rate of growth since 2010, which has, in turn, lead to a worrying increase in carbon emissions. India is one of the major contributors standing alongside China and the US, accounting for 85 percent of the net increase in global carbon emissions.

Quick Ride, an app which helps users carpool their daily ride, has achieved an exceptional feat at a nationwide level by reducing more than 34k+ tons of Carbon footprint on Earth, all thanks to the 1.5 Million+ users who did their share by contributing toward the greater cause.

On the company’s latest achievement, Quick Ride CEO KNM Rao said, “In a metro city like Bengaluru, people don’t talk distance anymore, it's the time taken to travel from point A to point B. Even now I remember, though my office was just a couple of kilometers away, I used to spend 1 hour (on an average, sometimes even more), just for the commute. Rather than the workload, it was the commute that gave me nightmares! And that is how the notion of Quick Ride was born. A simpler, better and safe way to travel, while reducing carbon footprint and traffic on roads, and of course, being light on your wallet too.”

For making this dream of a greener planet with lesser carbon emissions come true, Quick Ride has come up with a strong and simple solution - targeting daily commuters to inculcate the habit of carpooling and shared mobility. With carpooling, there is significantly lesser traffic, congestion, fuel usage and commute time, as well as reduced carbon footprint.

Let’s take a quick dive into the statistics of Quick Riders from various corporations who have helped achieve this accomplishment of reducing carbon footprint by 8,401 tons:

Cognizant with 70,980+ users reduced 4,370 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
IBM with 34,380+ users reduced 2,186 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
Wipro with 50,740+ users reduced 2,276 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
Infosys with 51,250+ users reduced 1,956 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
TCS with 61,110+ users reduced 2,267 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
Nokia with 5,669+ users reduced 694 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
HCL with 24,690+ users reduced 899 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
L&T Infotech with 5643+users reduced 222 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
Philips with 3154+ users reduced 336 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
Cisco with 6229+ users reduced 274 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)
SAP with 7464+ users reduced 289 Carbon footprint reduced (Tons)

Quick Ride users can now either offer a ride or take a ride while saving the environment and their bank balance! The app encourages car owners to carpool and invite other people to ride with them. The app is intuitive & intelligent enough to suggest riders that are on the same route as the car ride offerer, which reduces the hassle of rerouting. It also allows ride givers to transfer the money earned directly to their Paytm wallet. For the ride-taker, it is extremely cost efficient (as low as Rs 3/km), and also provides an interesting avenue to network with like-minded professionals.
