So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I Do Engravables was founded in 2005 with the invention of the engravable signature frame – patent pending – that we sell today.

I Do Engravables was purchased in 2007 by Southern Moulding Acquisition, a family-owned wholesale frame distributor since 1945. I Do Engravables and its wholesale partner, Signature Keepsakes, are currently owned and managed by this fifth generation picture framing family. With over a century of family history in the business, you know we are passionate about what we do!

Our products are shipped to customers around the globe and are found in retail stores across the United States. We are proud to be in the business of preserving memories.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. When we started in 2005, we were one of the few alternative/unique guest books available. The growth of Etsy, Pinterest and DIY have changed the way customers shop for our products.

External forces have provided ongoing challenges to the company. Google algorithms change and add constant fluctuation to online shopping. The combination of these have dramatically increased the competition in our category.

I Do Engravables – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We sell unique alternatives to the traditional guestbook. Our product is high quality and is a long term keepsakes for brides and grooms. While many trendy alternative guest book ideas continuously evolve, ours remains one of the most durable and classic. It is truly a keepsakes vs many ideas that are gimmicky and transient. Our commitment to quality, durability and customer satisfaction have set us apart over the years.

The engravable signature frame is now available in many sizes and frame styles, and is complemented by an offering of engravable pewter trays and platters, thumbprint and leaf tree guestbooks. Our products are a permanent, unique alternative to a guest book and will provide a wonderful memory of your special event, from weddings and showers to anniversaries, corporate events and appreciation gifts.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is running a profitable business while maintaining strong moral and ethical guidelines. This means treating employees, vendors, customers and anyone we interact with in a way that we would want to be treated. We have encountered many “successful” businesses (meaning they make money) that have done so in ways that have left others wronged in their paths. Part of success for us is knowing that we have achieved it in a way that not only are we profitable and proud, but that people who know us value us for quality, integrity and ethics.

Our family owned, parent company, Southern Moulding Acquisition, was well-known in the picture frame business for being an ethical company which treated its customers well. We are carrying that tradition into the next generation of the Company.
