Steps you should take when starting to homeschool

If you’ve done all the research and are finally set to homeschool your children, there are numerous steps you can take to achieve your goal. Homeschooling requires a lot of budgeting and pre-planning before you can get ready for the school year.

Abide by the laws:
Every province allows homeschooling. However, there are certain rules that you should adhere to. Once you are aware of all the requirements, get all the assistance that you need to be able to comply. For instance, if the province requires you to adhere to a particular curriculum and report the test scores of your child, then you must do that.
Get in touch with local homeschooling groups
Open a browser and search for ‘homeschool groups’ in the area you live in. You will be surprised by the number support groups by fellow parents who are homeschooling their children. Apart from this, you can also sign up with online forums. All these groups will offer helpful resources that you can take full advantage of.
Buy a homeschool curriculum
You can either choose to buy a curriculum or can create your own, if your province allows it. Prepackaged curriculums normally include textbooks, teacher’s notes, and worksheets. If you plan on making the curriculum on your own then that can be time-consuming, but is also one of the least expensive approaches. And while purchasing materials can consume and quickly add up your resources, you must also keep in mind that there are various websites that provide free homeschooling materials.
Set a schedule
Flexibility is a big benefit of homeschooling, but it will only be helpful if you set a schedule that works for you and your child. Figure out the hours you are willing to put in every day. It may take some time for you to adjust, but you will have to make an honest assessment of what is working for you and what doesn’t, and the amount of time you and your child must spend on various subjects.
Apart from all this, you must also stay organized so that you can make the most out of homeschooling your child.
