A platform that’s setting a new standard through a discussion amongst the leaders and young minds.
[Noida, March 15th, 2019]: Commemorating another year of contributing towards rural development efforts across India, SBI Youth for India is organizing The Youth Conclave 2019 for its alumni, as part of their annual meet, to ensure cross-learning and networking after the fellowship. The event is organized in partnership with UN Global Compact Network India (GCNI) and Foundation for Community Consensus (FCC) in SBILD, Noida on the 16th of March to set a new standard through a discussion amongst the leaders and young minds. It will be attended by leaders of the SBI Foundation, heads of partner organizations -- Shri Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India, Ankitha Cheerakathil, Executive Director, Foundation for Community Consensus -- along with Ms. Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCL Foundation, Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder Director, GOONJ, Mr. Shalabh Mittal, CEO, The School for Social Entrepreneurs, the representatives of leading NGOs including partners of the fellowship, past fellows of the SBI YFI, and other distinguished guests.
The SBI Youth for India fellowship program partners with various world-renowned NGOs to support their rural development outreach and impact. The program finds and supports motivated and educated youth across India to join the fellowship, and further embeds them within these partner NGOs to work on specific projects during the course of their fellowship. This helps them bring about positive change directly or indirectly, among families in remote rural areas.

Nixon Joseph, President & COO, SBI Foundation says, “The meet will witness sharpest minds converge and deliberate on issues of rural development. Where solutions will be explored towards which our efforts will remain focused as we write the next chapter of the SBI Youth For India fellowship.”

"It's a great platform for the youth to come together and exchange ideas, both on behalf if the development community, and on behalf of the efforts of the youth, who are either trying to make in-roads into the development sector or are part of it," adds Gurkaran Bakshi, Head of Programs, Foundation for Community Consensus.

The annual event is holding the Youth Conclave 2019 for fellows of the SBI Youth For India fellowship, where the fellows will present some of their work to the audience and share their transformative experiences both from the perspective of the communities they’ve had a chance to work with and from their own personal discovery. This will be followed by a panel discussion with the distinguished guests attending the event. The discussions, debates, and insights will focus on ‘Making development sector attractive for the youth.’
The conclave will also inaugurate the SBI Youth for India Coffee Table Book, a collection of experiences and success stories written by the fellows. Titled ‘Rural Brews’, it aims to bring insightful, inspiring and stirring experiences the fellows have had during the course of their fellowships to the audience through the medium of a coffee table book. An address will follow the launch of the book, after which attendees will get a chance to network over high tea.

About

SBI Youth for India is the flagship program of SBI Foundation and is a 13-month long fellowship that enables urban, educated Indian youth to work on rural development projects across India in partnership with globally recognized experienced NGOs. Amongst these NGOs are Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), Baif Development Research Foundation, Barefoot College, Dhan Foundation, Gram Vikas, Seva Mandir, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation and Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi. These NGOs have partaken in development projects across India and supported projects of SBI YFI fellows through thought leadership, mentorship, training, and support. The projects focus across twelves thematic areas which are in turn key to identifying and solving various needs communities face. So far, the fellowship counts over 250+ fellows who’ve worked on various projects, while over 50 in the current batch are working in the field. The fellowship also empowers the individual transformation of the youth into socially aware leaders who can go about making a positive impact on society even after the completion of their fellowship. The SBI Foundation is the CSR initiative of the State Bank of India, the largest state-owned banking and financial services company in India.

Global Compact Network India (GCNI), formed in November 2000, was registered in 2003 as a non-profit society to function as the Indian Local Network of the Global Compact, New York. It is the first Local Network in the world to be established with full legal recognition. It, also as a country level platform for businesses, civic organisations, public and private sector, aids in aligning stakeholders' responsible practices towards the Ten Universally Accepted Principles of UNGC in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption, broad goals including Sustainable Development Goals and other key sister initiatives of the United Nations and its systems.

Foundation for Community Consensus (FCC), is the Indian entity of the Institute H21, which is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 to bring the universal Janecek voting method (D21) to public attention in the Czech Republic and beyond. The Indian entity was thus registered in March 2018 in New Delhi under the name Foundation for Community Consensus (FCC), though several projects and initiatives were successfully implemented even before this. FCC is currently focusing on engaging youth and active participation of citizens in rural and urban areas – all by using the innovative medium of the Janecek Method (D21).
