Award winning photographer Gary Pavkovich is seeking sponsors for his latest project, a hymn of love for the aborigional culture. Gary is best known for his controversial series, Black/White, promoting awareness of how the AIDS pandemic is devastating Southern African culture, which won the (SIP) Annual Photography Award. Black/White went on to exhibit in Europe and the USA and a book version was eventually published privately, after much delay when the origional publishers Houghton Mifflin went bankrupt. These setbacks have not stopped Gary from attacking his latest project with his customary gusto.

Dreamtime vs the Digital Age will take a look at how the Aboriginal culture has been attacked and eroded by colonial policy, by contrasting the cultural riches of this ancient race with their struggle to survive the ravages of the 21st century. We will attempt to raise the funds by starting a project on a platform that is best suited to this type of project, perhaps something like Kickstarter. We expect to publish in 2014 is the funding does not take too long. Watch this space!

Kickstarter
http://dreamtime.pw/ vs the Digital Age will be a glossy coffee-table style book, full of stunning original photos and text. Shot on Nikon pro spec 36 megapixel DSLR cameras, using prime fx lenses, the book will be a holistic attempt to document the way of life of the Aboriginal peoples, their dreamtime (original spiritual beliefs), their art, their struggle to adapt to a modern way of life, amongst others. A % of the net proceeds of the project will be donated to the Aboriginal charity of your choice. Yes, you get to choose, after all, this project would not be successful without you.

About
Kickstarter is a for profit company that was conceived as a brand new way of funding creative projects, be it photography, art, film, inventions etc. Since the launch in 2009, over 4.4 million people have pledged at least $692 million, which has helped fund some 44,000 exciting and original projects. A project creator is personally responsible for their own project, they maintain 100% ownership of their work yet along with the backers push the project towards fruition. Backers receive some sort of acknowledgement, be it credit in the work itself, an original version of the project, a share of the profits, this will vary from project to project.
