Suresh Gyan Vihar University is the culmination of a dream that is seeing its fruition after three generations of single-minded dedication, hard work and unfailing perseverance for the cause of education and the upliftment of the poor and down-trodden.

It was during the tumultuous years of our Independence struggle that heeding the call of Mahatma Gandhi to make education easily accessible to all sections of the society and not just the elite, Shri Acharya Purushottam Uttam decided to take steps to fulfill this dream. Although he was a member of the Socialist Party and was the first General Secretary of the party in Rajasthan, he abandoned any political ambitions in favor of devoting all his time and effort towards making education freely available to all, and thus was formed the "Sahitya Sadawart Samiti". He joined Guru Kamalakar, a famous Brij poet, and worked with him to teach languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, and Gujarati, as well as the great works of Indian Literature free of cost.

After Independence in 1959, Sahitya Sadawart Samiti became a society fully devoted to the cause of education. Acharya Shree, as Shri Purushottam was popularly called, was soon joined in his efforts by his son, Shri Suresh Sharma, himself a devoted socialist and a champion of the minorities, the poor and the have-nots of the society. It was in this scenario and with a solid political commitment to back it up, that in 1994 Gyan Vihar made its humble and unpretentious beginning as a pre-primary school in Jaipur. And the fact that in a brief period of time, Gyan Vihar has grown to cover the entire gamut of formal education from pre-primary to Ph.D. in engineering and management bears eloquent testimony to the vision, motivation, sheer dedication and the indefatigable efforts of Shri Suresh Sharma. The seed sown by his father has grown and bloomed to become both the envy and cynosure of those who behold it.

In the year 2000 a barren uncultivated patch of land in Jagatpura, on the outskirts of Jaipur suddenly burst into activity with the commencement of the first classes of Engineering in Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer Science Departments. Later departments of Electrical and Information Technology were added. Concurrently the School of Pharmacy and an International School of Business Management were started followed by the Schools of Hotel Management, Bio-Sciences, Education and Interdisciplinary & Liberal Studies. Residential facilities for boys and girls were enhanced to accommodate the ever-growing number of students. A Word About The Courses
In Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, and Interdisciplinary & Liberal Studies, courses have been introduced up to Ph.D. levels that cater to the needs of modern day science and industry. The curriculum of all the courses has been so designed that stress is laid on innovative and original thinking with mandatory research work. 5 – 10% of the syllabi of all the Schools are updated and modified every year to cater to the ever-changing needs of the industry and business as well as the scientific community. Visiting faculties are invited from the premier institutes of the country and from Universities in the USA and UK.

What Is Gyan Vihar All About?
Gyan Vihar is situated on the sprawling campus of 130 acres in the historic city Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, one of the most popular tourist destinations of the world, known as PINK CITY. The University is in the South of Jaipur abutting the area of Mahal Jagatpura spread over 8 lakh sq.ft. constructed area.

Gyan Vihar opened its door almost 2 decades back. It is striving for quality leadership in education since 1994, currently running 10+2 CBSE schools; graduate and post-graduate schools for technical education and Ph.D. in various disciplines.

Recognition
SGVU is duly recognized by the university grants commission (UGC) and is included in the list of private universities maintained by the university grants commission under section 2 (f) of UGC Act 1956.

As per the Hon'ble Supreme Court Judgment in case of critical appeal no. 1999.D / 24-9-2001 for a university running / Conducting technical course/programs, prior approval of AICTE is not necessary.

SGVU is NAAC accreditated. The legend of triumph continues with the score of 3.10 marks out of 4, with 'A' grade. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organization that assesses and accredits higher education Institutions (HEIs) in India. It is an autonomous body funded by University Grants Commission of Government of India headquartered in Bangalore.
