More than 900,000 people across the nation come together each year to support the JDRF Community One Walk

National Security Service is pleased to be a part of the JDRF Community One Walk on April 29, 2018 in Fredericksburg, Virginia by providing security services at the event. Volunteers will be lacing up their running shoes for the 5K walk to raise funds to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. This enjoyable family event starts at Dixon Park with registration at 11:30 a.m. and the walk beginning at 12:30 p.m.

More than 900,000 people across the nation come together each year to support the JDRF Community One Walk. The walk increases awareness and promotes positive change in the lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. It's an autoimmune disease that can affect adults and children unexpectedly regardless of a person's lifestyle or diet. The disease has no prevention or cure.

"An event like this makes the public aware of what an impact type 1 diabetes has on people and families," says Edward Stevens, CEO of National Security Service, provider of security services nationwide. "We believe in the importance of finding a cure for this disease, and we're privileged to be part of the day."

Research is the key to helping those affected by type 1 diabetes move one step closer to finding a cure. JDRF is a global organization devoted to type 1 diabetes research. Over $2 billion has already been raised by JDRF to fund advances in scientific research in the fight to eliminate type 1 diabetes according to JDRF's website.

"Hopefully people will continue to support the activities of JDRF beyond the finish line," says Stevens. "We'd all like to see an end to this debilitating disease."
