One of them is Tamil Nadu. It is important to know that Tamil Nadu is located in the south of the Indian Peninsula and it is one of the 28 states of the Indian Republic. Its capital is also its largest city, Chennai, and the population is around 72 million inhabitants. If we consider area, Tamil Nadu is the eleventh state of India, but if we consider the number of inhabitants, it is the seventh state, following states such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

There are numerous places to visit in Tamil Nadu. First of them is the capital of the state, Chennai, and Mammalapuram Beach. Irrespective of the fact that it is a very crowded city, Chennai is also a very conservative one. Their culture is very profound and they also have very interesting traditions. The most important interesting places in Chennai are the beaches, the temples, galleries and museums, amusement parks and the churches built in Portuguese style.
Also, there are other places to visit in Tamil Nadu. Let’s take Ooty as example. Ooty has been established as the summer home for the government of Chennai. Giving the fact that summers in India are unendurable, officials and rich people usually go to Ooty because here temperatures are not that high. However, you should better avoid traveling in months like April and May as it can be very crowded. The main attractions are represented by the Government Botanical Gardens, the Ooty Lake and Dodabetta Peak. If you are a Francophile and you want to feel the French spirit, then you should visit Pondicherry. It is an eighteenth century colony which distinguishes by warmth and peace.

Among the many places to visit in Tamil Nadu, temples have a special status. It is well-known that Indian temples are of extreme importance for the Hindu culture. With an impressive number of 34000 temples, India can pride itself in having some of the oldest temples in the entire world. What makes Tamil Nadu temples more important than other Indian temples is the fact that Tamil Nadu temples are impressive temples built by some of the most influential empires, such as the Pallava, Chola and Pandya empires. Another significant aspect about them is that many cities in this state are fraught with religious meaning as a result of the fact that here can be found numerous Indian shrines.

If you do not know which Tamil Nadu temples are worth visiting, here it is a list of the most important ones. You must know that all of them are important, so you should set apart some time, if you want to visit all. Here are the Tamil Nadu temples that you should not miss: Chidambaram, Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvarur, Kancheepuram, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Kumbakonam, Rameshwaram, Tiruchendur, Palani, Thiruvanamalai, Nagore and Velankanni, Melmaruvathur and many others.

In conclusion, it is important to know that India is a country where various cultures manage to live in relative harmony and this make it such an interesting place to visit. If you haven’t done it yet, you should go and see India as soon as possible. You won’t be disappointed!
