This note introduces new sensor ptoduct for detecting COVID-19 in 2021. Optical measurement technology company ELDIM has chosen to use Ams spectral sensing technology for rapid, professional detection of COVID-19.

 
General Description of AS7341L
AS7341L is a 10-channel spectrometer for spectral identification and analytic applications used in mobile devices. The spectral response is defined in the wavelengths from approximately 350nm to 1000nm. 6 channels can be processed in parallel by independent ADCs while the other channels are accessible via a multiplexer. 8 optical channels cover the visible spectrum, one channel can be used to measure near infra-red light and one channel is a photodiode without filter ("clear"). The NIR channel in combination with the other VIS channels may provide information about special characteristics of analytes (e.g. Lateral Flow Tests). The device can also be synchronized to external signals via pin GPIO.
AS7341L integrates filters into standard CMOS silicon via Nano-optic deposited interference filter technology and its package provides a built-in aperture to control the light entering the sensor array. Control and Spectral data access are implemented through a serial I²C interface. The device is available in an ultra-low profile package with dimensions of 3.1mm x 2mm x 1mm.

Ams AG provides the latest sensor technology to ELDIM, a French provider of optical measurement technology and related software and hardware design. And to help develop a testing solution for COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2) instant care applications -- a solution that uses molecular biology techniques to obtain results in about 40 minutes when used in a professional medical environment -- previously, such tests often took hours or days.
The AS7341L spectral sensor solution based on Ams Semiconductor specifically developed a sensor system that uses the spectrum to parse and read amplified RNA from virus particles. This system further strengthens the position of Ams Semiconductor in providing high-quality professional health diagnostics.
Optical measurement technology uses light to determine measurement unit standards and other standards for high-precision research. A team of several companies and institutions has been actively studying the project for several months. They include Loop Dee Science, a biotechnology start-up that focuses on instant care testing; LRX Technologies, a designer of tiny interconnected optical sensors; ELDIM, an industrial reader maker; and CHU Caen University Hospital in Normandy, which provides scientific advice and clinical supervision. All of these institutions are located in Normandy, France. Eventually, the LoopXplore COVID-19 analysis suite and the Portable automated diagnostic professional LoopX were successful.

Realization of Miniaturization of PCR Detection in Professional Medical Environment
PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing is the basis for most of the genetic tests currently performed and is the most commonly used test method for COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2). However, the equipment used and the expertise required to interpret the data are highly specialized, expensive, and can only be done in centralized laboratories. By contrast, the new method offered by ELDIM and its partners uses thermostatic amplification to detect the virus itself, eliminating the need for cumbersome equipment. The advantage of this method is that patients can get almost immediate accurate test results of their own health status, thus avoiding the spread of the virus.
