LTG Patrick O’Reilly performed in many roles and held leadership positions throughout his career that greatly impacted the U.S. military achievements. Proving early in his career that he was capable of great leadership, General Patrick O’Reilly was rapidly assigned increasingly significant and challenging responsibilities. His career started at West Point U.S. Military Academy where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Science. Patrick O’Reilly then went on to obtain Master’s Degrees in Physics, National Security and Strategic Studies, and Management. His “broad education was the foundation of his career,” says LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly.

Today, LTG Patrick O’Reilly is known for his leadership in stimulating idea integration, disciplined management, and rigorous systems engineering and research in aerospace, as well as automotive and civil engineering programs. General Patrick O’Reilly has experience in technical policy formulation, contracting authority for many small to very large government contracts, and overseeing extensive development, testing, and production of missiles and electronics.

Patrick O’Reilly works as a consultant today providing industry and university leaders perspective on contracting with the government, Department of Defense policies, strategic planning, university and industry collaboration, international projects, project initiation and management, risk management strategies, performance measurement, and cultivating workforce competencies to address evolving markets and future government needs. Retired LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly is also an expert in leadership and management of complex, technology development programs.

LTG Patrick O’Reilly’s experience comes from years of serving as Product Manager, Project Manager, Program Director, Program Executive Officer, and as the Director of the Missile Defense Agency under the Department of Defense. In the role of Director, General Patrick O’Reilly led 8,000 people in an $8 billion per year, globally deployed, Federal agency. It required Patrick O’Reilly to act as a decisive leader and effective manager. During his time as Director, LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly directed 20 Department of Defense and nine international research and development programs from 2008 to 2012.

His work here gained him recognition by the U.S Army, the U.S. government, and leaders such as the President of the United States and Congressman Mo Brooks of Alabama. LTG Patrick O’Reilly received many awards and medals for his service to the Department of Defense.
