Weight Loss Requires Strength Training

If you want a successful weight loss, the important thing to do is undergo weight training. The training referred to here is weight-bearing exercises which don’t have to be hulking workouts.

 
If you want a successful weight loss, the important thing to do is undergo weight training. The training referred to here is weight-bearing exercises which don’t have to be hulking workouts, but just basic strength trainings. But why is it that strength training is very important in losing weight? The reason is because a lot of people are starving themselves with the hope of losing weight. And nutritionists and dieticians cannot give these people sound advice because they, too, erroneously think that it is about just calories.


The recommended solution to this issue, is for a person to engage in weight training while losing body fat. When you lose body fat, there is weight loss. With strength training, you can maintain the muscle mass that is there underneath your body fat. Your body mass and body fat will be in greater proportion; you’ll get slimmer body, yet the muscles will be retained, the muscles that you had before your strength training.

If you’re a man and you have attained weight loss by getting rid of enough body fat, your muscles may begin to show. If you’re a woman, there is nothing to worry, you’ll never bulk up. Many women are afraid of weight training, thinking that they will become overly big overnight. Women are not created to have large muscle mass, so there’s no need to be afraid of bulking up. Women who think that they will become bigger by working out think it all wrong.

When you engage in weight training the muscle mass that you already have now will be conserved. Shedding useless muscle is very easy for your body. Your body can get rid of the muscle that you are not using in over a few months, and it will be gone. However, gaining that muscle back will take some effort, maybe months and years of challenging strength training. It really is a challenge to build muscle mass and lose fat.

Another important thing to note here is that when people are speaking of weight loss, the term is thrown around without having a clear understanding of its meaning. You may say, “I want to lose weight”, but do you mean that, really? What you want to say should be, “I want to lose body fat”. Starving yourself and starting losing muscle mass can count as losing weight, but it is not good for yourself because your metabolism has been lowered.

As with all forms of workouts, the key is to have a health professional working with you before you attempt any weight training and other high intensity exercises. Check with your physical therapist or doctor whether or not you are ready for this type of training. Of course the least that you want is to injure yourself and have weeks of set back. Don’t forget that your body will slowly adapt, so take it a little at a time. Doing this will enable you to conserve the muscle mass that you have beneath your body fat and maybe also help you get the body as you deserve!
