London, UK (August 15, 2016) - Imagine the scene: You’re in a far-off country. You distrust your host. The musicians you crossed an ocean to work with have gone touring without you and the man who photographs you for a living isn’t paying you. You’re running out of money and people you can trust, then to make things worse, your only friend - a 15 year old girl - has gone missing. A sense of ancient witchcraft hangs in the air, and if you don’t take action to protect what you hold dear, no-one else will.

This is not a Victorian tale of Britons travelling to sinister unknown lands, Bram Stoker-style. This is ‘Dark Journey’, the very modern tale of Kelly - a beautiful American girl, played by the super-hot Tiffany Mulheron (Rock’n’Rolla, Lesbian Vampire Killers) - and her stand against sorcery in contemporary London.

“Kelly’s a fish out of water,” explains C.L. Murray, who produced the film independently. “On the outside she should have it all: the looks to be a model, the talent to be a pop star and an exciting new adventure touring with a band in Britain. But everyone’s an underdog when they’re up against what they don’t understand.”

Not that Kelly stays alone forever in her quest to uncover what happened to her missing teenage friend. In the face of dark forces, she changes from a naïve small-town American girl to a dark-haired, emotionally-resilient vamp and makes two friends who are equally determined to find out what happened to the hapless 15 year old. Played by gorgeous Giselle Bowyer (Gossip Girl).

Kelly’s journey from loneliness to friendship in the face of adversity is typical, Murray says, of many people’s arrival into London. “Our capital can seem a cold, unwelcoming place at first. It’s easy to think you’ll never fit in. But hang in there long enough, grow the strength to tolerate the overcrowding, the noise, the gangs and the cliques, and you’ll soon meet good people trying to do good things. Just like you.”

Teenage horror films have been a staple of cinema since the 1970s, and the success of Blair Witch in 1999 inspired a generation of up-and-coming filmmakers to embrace digital technology and show what they could do. But don’t expect any shaky camerawork or grainy images this time around. Instead, the filmmakers have gone for a well-polished production that sounds as good as it looks, with aural delights provided by the award-winning team behind Casino Royalé.

“This was a huge learning experience for myself and for director James Walker. Working within the financial constraints of independent film forces you to find ways to do things that would never have crossed your mind if you were blessed with Hollywood-sized budgets. The cast have also more than played their part in bringing it to life; Tiffany Mulheron sets every scene alight as Kelly, and Melissa Leigh is a perfect femme fatale. She’s every teen boy’s guilty pleasure: the face of a saint with the smile of a killer.”
