Oakfuskee Conservation Center, on a picturesque point of land with unobstructed views of West Point Lake and Pyne Road Park’s majestic forests, is introduced to the public on Friday, December 1, at a ribbon cutting ceremony with local officials and dignitaries. The multi-use, two-story facility is in LaGrange, Ga., an hour south of Atlanta. Oakfuskee Conservation Center is committed to environmental stewardship and will be one of the most impressive event spaces in the Southeast for weddings, corporate functions, celebrations, family reunions, fishing tournaments, outdoor events and more. The 25,000-square-foot facility will host events of all sizes and can accommodate more than 300 guests.

Patrick Crews, chairman of the Troup County Board of Commissioners, says the new event facility is the first of its kind in the area, and he credits state and local organizations for partially funding the facility. “We are extremely honored by the grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the donation from the Callaway Foundation that made this project possible. We look forward to welcoming groups to the facility and showcasing its unique design, location and amenities.”

Oakfuskee Conservation Center includes a grand foyer with stunning fireplace, veranda, indoor banquet area, outdoor covered banquet area, outdoor pavilion, downstairs patio, brides’ room, grooms’ room, catering kitchen, offices, new service roads, sidewalks and nature trails. Artwork created by local artists and an arrowhead collection discovered on the property will be on display at Oakfuskee.

Eric L. Mosley, County Manager of the Troup County Board of Commissioners says the new facility wouldn’t be possible without the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Callaway Foundation. “The grant from the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program, Conserve Georgia and the vision of the Callaway Foundation were instrumental in providing substantial funding for Oakfuskee Conservation Center. We are extremely proud of the facility and look forward to showcasing it to the public.”

The conservation center is also the new home for Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, which provides educational opportunities for thousands of students. Additional plans call for the construction of an outdoor amphitheater to host sustainable food festivals and concerts, lodging options, a wildlife viewing deck, expanded trails for horseback riding, and construction of a new dock.

The venue’s breathtaking design draws inspiration from its natural surroundings. Featuring wood and stone motifs, shades of green, high ceilings with exposed beams and other natural touches, the Oakfuskee Conservation Center offers a modern space that seamlessly melds with its setting at Pyne Road Park. Visitors will be able to enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, disc golf and birdwatching.
