Single Incision Robotic Surgery started at World Laparoscopy Hospital

World Laparoscopy Hospital today announced the start of Single Incision da Vinci Robotic Surgery.

da Vinci is a standalone robotic surgical system widely used all over World in complex, minimally invasive surgery; however, it was only in December 2011 that the Food and Drug Administration USA has approved the specialized Single-Site instruments for use with the da Vinci Surgical System. “Neither robotic surgery nor single-incision surgical treatment is new, but combining the two techniques to eliminate the discomfort of the patient requires additional training and special equipment,” says Dr. R. K. Mishra, general surgeon. “To be among the first hospitals to make available this technically advanced surgery demonstrates World Laparoscopy Hospital’s leadership in providing patients with the most up-to-date noninvasive surgical options.”

The incision appeared within the patient’s belly button, limiting the pain to a tiny area. In just 3 days, she was back doing the primary functions of life, for example making lunch on her daughter and doing laundry. Just 3 weeks after the surgery, the person said the incision wasn't noticeable and what little pain she had was gone. “It was seriously worth having single site surgery,” she adds. “I feel wonderful. We've my well being back”.

World Laparoscopy Hospital is one of the first institute in World to start da Vinci Robotics Surgery training for surgeon and gynecologist. The objective is to provide the basic knowledge required for clinical applications of da Vinci robot and to describe all the basic principles, instruments, materials, and present the most widely used basic robotic general surgical, gynecological and urological minimal access surgical techniques. The Laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery training program of World Laparoscopy Hospital is designed to provide hands-on training sessions as well as clinical exposure to learn or improve performance of basic technical tasks in robotic surgery and to describe results and potential complications of laparoscopic procedures.

On an international scale, more than 1000 surgeons come to India every year to make the most of our unique training courses in da Vinci robotic surgery. The exceptional involvement and self-commitment of international experts is key to the institute's success. Now the new single site robotic surgery will bring this institute in the forefront of Global healthcare, said Sadhana Mishra, the course coordinator of World Laparoscopy Hospital.

Courses provided by World Laparoscopy Hospital is one of the most concentrated course of the World designed for maximum laparoscopic learning and skill building, employing surgical videos and pelvic trainers. Participants are encouraged to attend with a colleague from their practice to increase their successful implementation of skills.

“I have greatly enjoyed being part of an organization dedicated to meeting the unique physical, emotional and developmental needs of laparoscopic and robotic surgery, all the way through multiple incision to single incision and am thrilled to expand my role within World Laparoscopy Hospital,” said Dr. J. S. Chowhan. “I am looking forward to working with others in our organization to continue finding new ways to deliver top quality minimal access surgical care.”

World Laparoscopy Hospital consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals for minimal access surgery in the country by the Times Now report. World Laparoscopy Hospital serves as the Minimal Access Surgical academic medical referral center for the largest landmass of any hospital in the country. For more than 15 years, World Laparoscopy Hospital has been delivering superior patient care and advancing new laparoscopic and robotic surgical treatments through minimal access surgical research. World Laparoscopy Hospital, Gurgaon serves as the primary teaching, clinical and research hospital for the advanced laparoscopic surgery.
