Things to note when cleaning spiral steel pipes

Spiral steel pipe (SSAW pipe) is a welded steel pipe made of strip steel coil as raw material, extruded at room temperature, and welded by automatic double-wire double-sided submerged arc welding process. Spiral steel pipes are mainly used in water supply projects, oil well pipes, chemical industry, power industry, agricultural irrigation, and urban construction.

Spiral steel pipe cleaning method

1. Clean up:
Use solvents and emulsions to clean the surface of large diameter spiral steel pipes to remove dust, detergents and similar organic compounds. However, it must promptly remove rust, oxide scale, welding powder, etc. on the steel surface, so it is only used as an auxiliary means in anti-corrosion production.

2. Rust removal:
First, clean the steel surface with cleaning materials to remove loose rust and other impurities. The rust removal using hand-operated special tools can reach Sa2 level, and the rust removal of power projects can reach Sa3 level. If there is strong oxide scale attached to the surface of the steel, the rust removal effect will not be ideal and the anchor pattern height of the anti-corrosion construction standard will not be reached.

3. Acid treatment:
Chemical and electrolytic methods can be used to clean large-diameter spiral steel pipes. Pipes are only chemically treated to remove scale, rust and old coatings. Sometimes it can also be used as a reprocessing after sand blasting and rust removal. Although chemical cleaning can make the surface clean and rough to a certain extent, its anchor pattern is shallow and it is easy to pollute the environment.

Cleaning precautions
1. Cleaners should not contain granular abrasives to avoid scratching the hairline or damaging the surface.

2. When cleaning, scrub in the direction of the hairline.

3. After cleaning with detergent, rinse with enough water and dry with a dry cloth after rinsing.
