Dr. Byron Brown is both a skilled doctor and a longtime painter and artist. When he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University, he also earned a minor in Art. From a young age, Dr. Brown has shown talent and promise putting the paintbrush to the canvas. His parents always encouraged his artistic talents and he still practices his art to this day, despite being incredibly busy as an OBGYN specialist and trainer for new doctors at Southland Hospital.

Dr. Byron Brown used to run his own OBGYN private practice. He never stopped painting since college, however, and he continues to produce work for his office and home. Painting helps Dr. Brown relax from his long and stressful days at the hospital. When a teenager, Dr. Brown painted a huge backdrop to be used for a Christmas musical in his church.

Dr. Byron Brown has maintained his art skills through the years because of his love of art and his persistence in its practice. He has always been inspired by his grandmother who produced many beautiful works of art in oils and water color. She has been an inspiration to him as he observed her at work and as she shared her knowledge of art with him through the years.

Dr. Byron Brown hopes that people will appreciate his work and that he can continue to paint in his very limited free time as his career expands as an Attending Consultant at Southland Hospital. Dr. Brown continues to improve his artistic skill, which in turn makes him a better surgeon and a more relaxed medical professional in general. Art is a skill that he is trying to pass on to his sons.
