Beat Deep Books to Re-edition Book One of Faces of Rap Mothers

Posted January 20, 2020 by DonnaInk

Fast is the catch phrase of the new millennia; however, when it comes to book production - fast and furious - is not the coup de grace and Beat Deep Books Imprint learned this valuable lesson in 2019.

Beat Deep Books Imprint, of DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C., signed Candy Strother DeVore Mitchell for representation of her two book series titles in 2019, namely: "Faces of Rap Mothers" and "Rap Mothers Save The Day"; with an additional reproduction of a private book edition previously produced among the author's immediate family. Candy, a persuasive and driven personality, insisted on expedited production fall 2019, which resulted in Beat Deep Books, as DonnaInk's newest Imprint, introducing this first title in the ten (10) book series in less than three (3) months from receipt of "all" submission materials. Pursuant to contract terms, and conditions, at our publishing house, titles enter production ques when all materials relative to book development are submitted. Beat Deep Books Imprint conceded for Candy and the Rap Mothers, publishing outside of ques.

Processing "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One included nearly four hundred (400) images Mitchell provided in representation of contributors and herself and in under three hundred (300) pages to control retail cost for the original target readership. Amassing 400 images in under three (3) months for a small, woman-owned, traditional publishing house, featuring Indie and traditional platforms, in an expedited guise has been magical. And, as a result, "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One was nominated as the "Most Entertaining Hip Hop Book of 2019." At Beat Deep Books, our team remains impressed with our results, as have industry leads. However, rushing publication does result in issues, and numerous icons Candy and contributors feature, had been cited wrongfully or included no citations and unique spellings, not uncommon for artisans. These alliterations are not always captured during rush production when conveyed with innocent inaccuracies, much to the chagrin of DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. new Beat Deep Books Imprint.

"Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One's original title layout featured Candy Strother DeVore Mitchell's desire to "put her friends first" over publisher advisement, resulting in the current requirement to reconstruct "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One, which is unfortunate for all parties post-production. DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. title(s) representation agreement with Candy Strother DeVore Mitchell references contributor content conveyance as the responsibility of our authors' regarding accuracy of submission details. Contributor submissions represented within both "Faces of Rap Mothers" and "Rap Mothers Save The Day" are permissioned to our author, whose copyright is through DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C.

Generally, Beat Deep Books Imprint, creates collaborative works with all contributions sharing equal weight to alleviate potential issues and/or suggestions public figures are incorporated to ignite sales, which is against DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. ethos. So, to ensure no conflict-of-interest (COI) among "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One, and all subsequent books, DonnaInk has incorporated the following corrective actions: a) temporarily pulled "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One from sale, b) identified title reconstruction requirements to the author, c) restructured layout, d) reconfigured proofs, e) redressed and restored files, f) re-editioned the title, g) absorbed significant financial losses, and h) decided each subsequent book within both series will require submissions directly from contributors with any/all imagery and descriptors to ensure accuracy of data shares produced to readership. And, the author, and contributors, have been requested to honor publisher agreement in reference to marketing and dissemination of publisher sponsored materials, which has not been reflected to date - largely due to contract terms and conditions oversight in an excited and innocent guise.

In order to right this ship prior to release of "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book Two, Beat Deep Books Imprint and DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. temporary pull of this title, allots time for reconstruction while ensuring accuracy of content via our three-tier proof review process. All styles of release (i.e.: b/w trade, color trade, b/w hardbound, and color hardbound) will be reintroduced to the reading public after rigorous quality control checks. Therefore, "Faces of Rap Mothers" is "currently off sale" but "only temporarily" and 2nd Edition release is pending. In the 2nd Edition, Candy Strother DeVore Mitchell is featured in Chapter One and additional contributor chapters are recognized alphabetically as follows:

· Chapter One - Candy Strother DeVore Mitchell

· Chapter Two - Leiah Blunt (HONEY BLUNT)

· Chapter Three – Monica Davis

· Chapter Four - Shonta Renee Gibson (Queen G)

· Chapter Five - Angela Gilchrist-Guyton

· Chapter Six - Tyaunna Harris

· Chapter Seven - Angel Hicks (O.G. Lil Mama)

· Chapter Eight - Lena Moss

· Chapter Nine - Jamie Paris

· Chapter Ten - Nina Womack

· Chapter Eleven - Sharon Lynette Young (Berreta)

Certainly, readers / collectors are aware re-versioning results in one-of-a-kind origination books that may become collectibles regarding select printing with nominal sales to date. Readers who obtained copies prior to "Faces of Rap Mothers" Book One restructurization should hold onto their copies.

At DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. our team, comprised of varied consultants and tradespeople, takes great pride in quality our publishing house represents. Pulling a title from sale, and altering previously released work, is a cost-intense activity and extends a poor impression to readers. As a traditional publishing house employing Indie and traditional platforms, DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. is not vanity or subsidy. Our team extends high-end representation with consideration of the business parameters small publishers afford readership and authors. Beat Deep Books Imprint is not too proud to share a lesson-learned (L2) with readership, and industry alike, to invoke greater awareness in the acceptance of human foibles that occur even in performance of nonfiction and literary publishing for over thirty (30) eclectic authors, who hail five (5) continents, and nine (9) countries, while delivering content to discriminating readers derived from organic, original, growth verticals.
