A Simple Solution for Straighter Teeth at Weybridge Orthodontics

One of the great advances in dentistry to come out of the digital age is a complete change in the way teeth can be straightened at Weybridge Orthodontics. It’s called Invisalign.

[WEYBRIDGE, 06/09/2017] Teeth straightening with Invisalign at Weybridge Orthodontics bears very little resemblance to the traditional fixed bracket and wire braces. These are also still available from Weybridge Orthodontics.

How Invisalign came to be and how it works

Invisalign at Weybridge Orthodontics would not be here, were it not for the invention of 3D printing. This revolutionary way of making braces that aren’t braces is combined with computer aided design (CAD) modelling. The software allows Weybridge Orthodontics to get really detailed information about patients’ teeth alignment using digital scanning. This is fed into the computer and the CAD programme plots the course the teeth need to follow to become aligned. All this information is sent from Weybridge Orthodontics to the Invisalign laboratory in the USA, where it is used to 3D print a series of incremental aligners for each patient.

These then come back to Weybridge Orthodontics, where the first Invisalign aligner is fitted, secured to the patient’s teeth with metal snaps hidden on their back molars. Weybridge Orthodontics supplies detailed instructions on how to wear Invisalign for maximum efficiency.

Each Invisalign aligner takes about 2 weeks to nudge the teeth forward on their path, before being replaced by the next in the Invisalign series.

Invisalign aligners have a big advantage over fixed bracket and wire braces in that they are removable, which takes a lot of the hassle out of eating and keeping the teeth and appliances clean. The Invisalign aligners can also be left off for important occasions.

Weybridge Orthodontics patients need to be disciplined in wearing their Invisalign aligners. This means making sure that they are in place over the teeth for at least 20 hours out of 24, in order to stay on schedule.
