JEE

Joint Engineering Examination, (formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination), commonly known as JEE is an engineering entrance examination that is conducted for admission into the various engineering institutes all across the country.

About JEE

JEE is organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education. It consists of two parts, JEE Main and JEE
Advanced.

JEE Main is for admission into the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and the Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). While JEE Advanced is for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Scientific and Educational Research (IISERs).

Only those students who have successfully cleared the JEE Mains are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced.

JEE Main

It consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates have the choice to appear in either one or both of them. Both the papers comprise of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). While Paper 1 for admission into BE/B.Tech courses, Paper 2 is for B.Arch and B.Planning. Paper 1 is conducted online while Paper 2 is conducted offline. JEE Main has a fixed examination structure and is conducted for a duration of 3 hours. The questions cover physics, chemistry and maths.

JEE Advanced

This is the 2nd phase of the entrance examination and is conducted by the different IITs every year on a rotational basis. This exam too is based on physics, chemistry and maths and the questions are objective type.
Statistics

On an average, around 11-12 lakh candidates appear for JEE for a total of 25000 seats (in IITs, NITs, IIITs). Given the syllabus and the competition, cracking JEE might seem like an impossible task. But with the right preparation strategy and proper planning, you surely can clear the JEE exam.

Tips for JEE preparations

The following tips might prove useful for your JEE preparations:

Plan your preparations:

Give equal time to all topics.

Devote more time on difficult topics.

Daily revise all the topics you are already familiar with.

Mock tests and previous year question:

Make sure you solve as many mock papers as possible

Analyse your performance and work upon your weal areas

Take it easy, take a break:

Do not over-exert yourself. Take some time off to relax and refresh yourself. Listen to some music, play games or do anything that eases your brain. Also, eat a balanced diet and take care of your health.

Syllabus:

Keep a copy of the latest JEE syllabus and plan your preparations accordingly.
