An Exhaustive look at the sounds of a 7.3 Power stroke Diesel

Despite the play on words you pick, a standout amongst the most aggravating things to me about taking a gander at powerstroke exhaust choices is the absence of the nearness of a decent stable clasp of what the exhaust sounds like on a given vehicle.

Did you hear the one about the person that envisioned he was a suppressor? Better believe it, he woke up exhausted. I figure you could state this was an exhausting post to create. Or, on the other hand you could state that the entire venture is only a considerable measure of hot air. Perhaps that the entire thing just stinks. Be that as it may, I am not simply blowing smoke…

Despite the play on words you pick, a standout amongst the most aggravating things to me about taking a gander at powerstroke exhaust choices is the absence of the nearness of a decent stable clasp of what the exhaust sounds like on a given vehicle. All things considered, that is the reason you're changing the exhaust right? To change the sound!? Youtube has turned out to be a helpful instrument in getting a thought of what's in store in a wide range of setups, so I thought I would make an expansion to the commotion.

In light of that, and since I had a few alternatives to play with, I took a couple of recordings of various choices as I was building my most recent variety of the exhaust on my truck. I know the sound nature of these recordings isn't awesome, yet it should give you all that could possibly be needed to hear what the diverse choices seem like.

Every one of these recordings were brought with the 3″ dowpipe and EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) erase officially done to the truck. I basically didn't think to take any before that. A great many people realize what a stock PSD 7.3 exhaust sounds like at any rate.

So here are some unique setups that I have attempted on my truck.
Pardon the insecure camera on the ride-along recordings. The trucks ride like, well, similar to a 1 ton truck…

Here are 2 recordings of the stock middle of the road pipe (no exhaust system) with the 3″ downpipe, EBPV erase, 6637 unit, and so forth.

Lastly, here is a couple of recordings with my completed (though whimsical) straight pipe exhaust. It measure around 4.5″ OD and is about as straight a straight pipe as it gets. I will give a rep point to the first to think about what this pipe setup it.

This setup is LOUD! I am not totally happy with the sound. Despite the fact that the turbo whimper is great the automaton of the powerstroke exhaust irritates me a bit. I don't know my neighbors will be content with me either when I go out at 0515 either. Generally the commotion level can be balanced methods for the thin pedal on the privilege, showing the viability of the expression "boisterous pedal". I figure I will run this one a while and perceive how I feel about it following half a month/months. Regardless I think an entire 4″ exhaust with a little straight through suppressor may be the setup of inclination for me since I don't care for the unpleasant automaton. The 7.3 is a long way from a tranquil running motor paying little respect to the funnels joined, yet I will give this setup some time before I pass my last judgment on it. One thing is without a doubt, the couple of hours that I spent on making this pipe setup (which is the main genuine venture I made in the present design), was a considerable measure less expensive than purchasing a $300-$400 exhaust unit.

In a perfect world I might want to keep the automaton and rough tone to a base however keep the turbo shriek. I don't have the foggiest idea about this is conceivable with these trucks yet anything is superior to the powerstroke exhaust that was on the truck when I got it. Some simpleton had fitted up a genuine double exhaust framework to it that utilized the stock speak up to a splitter at that point kept running around 1 5/8″ duals OUT THE BACK. It would about suffocate you to leave the truck running and hitch up a trailer and towing for any measure of time would leave residue everywhere throughout the front of your trailer. Possibly not a major ordeal on the off chance that you were towing an utility trailer or something, yet I became weary of clearing off the front of our camper.
