David M. Daggett, CPA, has accomplished much in his 30-year plus career in accounting and entrepreneurship.

Having passed the three-decade mark as an accounting professional in 2013, David M. Daggett doesn't look to be slowing down in his work. He is currently a partner at Lee, Cochran & Daggett, CPAs, LLP, which handles tax preparation and planning alongside audits of pension funds and farming operations. Mr. Daggett has been at this firm since 2011 when he chose to re-enter the working world following a short break to take care of his family.

To fully appreciate Mr. David M Daggett CPA 's accomplishments, one has to understand how he started. He attended San Diego State University, graduating in 1983 with a degree in accounting. This would begin an exciting half-decade that saw the California native work for two of the prestigious accounting firms in the world at the time – first at Arthur Andersen & Co. for two years (1983-1985), then Deloitte & Touché (1985-1987). It was also during this time that Daggett would attain a Certified Public Accountant qualification, which would come in handy during his career.

In 1987, he decided to start his own firm – David M. Daggett & Company, CPA. Many of the firm’s early clients were those who had agreed to move with him from Deloitte & Touché. It spoke volumes to Mr. Daggett’s hard work and drive to perform excellent work that from the first day he never lacked business. In the next 13 years, the firm stabilized well enough to take over two accounting firms.
While accounting has been the focus of David M. Daggett’s career, he also has been successful in new product development and entrepreneurship. He took over his grandfather’s business, a law enforcement equipment distribution business, and took it to profitability within five years. In that time, he also expanded the product line to include a shotgun lock holder and fiberglass rear seats for police cars.
Mr. Daggett was also instrumental in the success of Gator Hawk Armor, Inc., which is a company he formed in February 2001. The success of Gator Hawk body armor was so huge; he sold the company in 2007 to a Canadian public company.
