[New Farm, May 16, 2016] – Brisbane Powerhouse, a home for contemporary culture in Queensland, introduces free events for those who enjoy contemporary culture. The arts centre provides an array of free events that deal with dance, film, comedy, markets, music, visual arts, digital arts and music theatre.

Brisbane Powerhouse shares Jessica Cochrane’s special exhibit entitled FearLess. They say that the artist endlessly searches for the consequence of consumerism on feminism. They reveal that her work is a mixture of expressionism painting and portrait photography.

They add that her unique artworks also examine each gender’s perspective of themselves. They share that Cochrane captures the ‘male gaze’, which objectifies women. Brisbane Powerhouse reveals that Cochrane alters the image into remarkable artworks.

The arts centre, in partnership with World Press Photo, brings World Press Photo 16. They share that it is a travelling exhibition and is the product of the World Press Photo Foundation. They hold documentary photography and photojournalism contests yearly around the globe.

On Tuesdays, the arts centre offers programs for kids entitled Powerkids: Little Artists at Play. They showcase Knockoff, a comedy program, every Friday. They also have Jan Power’s Farmers Markets every Saturday, and Livespark every Sunday. Brisbane Powerhouse also offers a free community forum in Politics in the Pub 2016, starting May 17.
