Indian National Cricket Team is all set to play a five-match ODI series and three-match T20I series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team from today. The first ODI is to be played at McLean Park in Napier.

Indian Captain Virat Kohli said that they will be flexible in the ODI series against New Zealand and focus on winning the matches as they are heading towards the big event World Cup after that. Team India is confident after beating Australia National Cricket Team in the ODI series recently.

Ahead of first India vs New Zealand ODI, Virat Kohli said, "Winning is going to be a very important factor. When you are playing for your country, you want to win every game you play but the main thing is not to be desperate at this stage,".

He said that there needs to be a good atmosphere in the changing room and there needs to be a collective effort towards just refining themselves as a team is approaching towards the World Cup.

He said that if they need to try a few players here and there just to see how they react in different situations, they are open to doing that as well. He said that they don't want to be too rigid as they have to be flexible in their mind and their preparation in order to be prepared for a big tournament like the World Cup.

He thinks they need a good balance of both even if they back a few players to play at some stage, the idea is still to win games and not just think of it as an experiment. He said, “It's an honour to play for your country,".

He further said, "We played NZ in India as well. They have a good balance in their team. The bowling attack is experienced but not that old. They have that energy and buzz about the same time.
