About the league
Craig Raucher founded the well-known Staten Island Basketball League at Public School 8 in Great Kills, Staten Island in 1980. It is the longest and oldest running group at the same location in the history of the New York City school system. The players range from 26 to 68 years of age. It was opined by players that “Staten Island Basketball League, our league ran in a unique non-traditional way”. Most players have played six full court games and there was three-hour session on Tuesday, Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. It is a highly competitive experience and great physical workout.
